He began his term by removing the door to his office
Sercan Okur, who was elected Mayor of Soma from the Republican People's Party (CHP) in the March 31 elections, received his certificate of election and took office. During the handover ceremony, Soma Mayor Sercan Okur took over from the former mayor, Ali Tulup, and kept his pre-election promise by removing the office door.
The handover ceremony began with the Republican People's Party laying a wreath at the Atatürk Monument in Cengiz Topel Square.
At the ceremony, Soma Mayor Sercan Okur, CHP District Chairman Levent Elbinsoy, Women's Branch Chairwoman Nilgün Demirhan, and Youth Branch Chairman Tuna Alev laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument.
HE REMOVED HIS PARTY PIN
Following a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, Soma Mayor Sercan Okur addressed the crowd gathered in front of the Soma Municipality, stating, "I am aware of the strong support and favor shown to me and my colleagues who were candidates for the municipal council. As I promised before the election, in your presence, I am removing my party pin and entrusting it to you, Mr. District Chairman.
Mr. District Chairman, this pin, which I have always been honored to wear, is entrusted to you for the duration of my term. From now on, I will be the mayor not only of the Republican People's Party but of all people in Soma and everyone. I will serve as mayor without discriminating against anyone, without engaging in partisanship or favoritism, without straying from justice and the law, by valuing talent and merit, and within a framework of love and respect. This was an election with no losers.
My duty from today on is to prove that the winner of the election was Soma. Thanks to the strength you have given us, we will be worthy of the trust you have placed in us. We will build a Soma together where everyone will guide us, help us, where the people of Soma will always be with us, and where everyone will live happily and peacefully. I thank you all."

HE REMOVED THE OFFICE DOORS
Soma's new Mayor, Sercan Okur, who was welcomed at the door by Soma Municipality staff, went to the office and took over the position from Ali Tulup.
As his first act, Soma Mayor Sercan Okur took a drill in his hand and removed the office doors, drawing attention to the fact that the Soma Municipality is a municipality for all citizens.
