In the incident that took place in Bağcılar on September 25, 2022, 28-year-old Ali Sayan stabbed his 58-year-old mother, Havva Sayan, 13 times, killing her. Sayan then severed his mother's hands, feet, and head. After showing his mother's head to people in the vicinity, Sayan threw it down from the balcony. The verdict has been announced in the trial of the arrested Ali Sayan. A lawyer from the Ministry of Family and Social Services was present at the hearing held at the Bakırköy 2nd High Criminal Court. The defendant joined the hearing via the Audio and Video Information System (SEGBİS).

When asked for his final statement at the hearing, defendant Ali Sayan said, “I did not do it knowingly.” Following the defendant's final statement, the court announced its verdict, sentencing Ali Sayan to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of “intentional murder of a lineal relative” and 6 months in prison for the crime of “intentionally endangering general safety.”

FROM THE INDICTMENT

In the indictment prepared by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that according to the Forensic Medicine Institute report, substances were detected in the blood and urine samples taken from the defendant Ali Sayan, who was being tried for the murder of his mother Havva Sayan, after the incident.

The indictment stated that according to the Forensic Medicine Institute report, 13 sharp and penetrating instrument wounds were detected on the body of the victim Havva Sayan, 8 of which were fatal.

It was requested that Ali Sayan be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment and 6 months to 3 years in prison for the crimes of ‘intentional murder of a lineal relative with monstrous feeling or by inflicting torment’ and ‘intentionally endangering general safety.’
