In the incident that took place on April 22, 2023, on the 4th floor of a 4-story building located on 204th Street in the 4 Temmuz Neighborhood, it is alleged that Emre T. (30) stabbed his brother Murat Can T. (32) in his sleep and fled.

Emre T., who had moved about 1 kilometer away from the house, drew the attention of police teams patrolling the area due to his suspicious behavior and the knife in his hand.

Emre T., who confessed to the murder by telling the police teams who stopped him, "I killed my brother," was taken into custody. It was determined that Murat Can T. had lost his life at the scene. It was revealed that Emre T. had cut his brother's throat and genitals.

FOUND TO HAVE FULL CRIMINAL RESPONSIBILITY

The trial of Emre T. continued at the Kocaeli 1st High Criminal Court for the crime of "murder with monstrous intent and by inflicting torture." The detained defendant Emre T., his lawyer, and his father N.T. attended the hearing. In the report received, it was stated that the defendant Emre T. had full criminal responsibility. When given the right to speak regarding the report, the defendant said, "I have nothing to say."

AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT REQUESTED

In his opinion, the public prosecutor requested that the defendant be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of intentional murder of a sibling with monstrous intent. Upon the defendant's lawyer's request for time to prepare a defense, it was decided that the defendant's detention would continue, and the hearing was adjourned.

On the other hand, in his defense at the first hearing, the defendant claimed that his brother had attempted to sexually abuse him when he was a child, stating, "The only thing that calmed me down was drugs. The sexual incident happened once, but there were also times when my brother beat and threatened me. No one kills their brother for no reason.

The day before the incident, I told my father about what I had been subjected to. I did not go to the house where we stayed as a family that night. I had torn my shirt while telling my father about the events; when I went home in the morning to change, my brother said to me, 'What did you tell my father, you scoundrel?' I don't remember what happened after that. The aftermath comes to my mind in fragments, but I don't want to remember it," he had said.
