As the first anniversary of the investigation launched against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu on corruption allegations approaches, preparations for March 19 have also begun within the CHP.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel had called on Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek to disclose his assets during his party's group meeting on February 17, giving him a 1-week deadline.

Özel had also claimed that Gürlek held assets registered under other people's names, stating, "I am waiting for Mr. Akın to declare his assets. I have them. He will explain that unexplainable total by saying, 'I bought this house sold for 118 million in Istanbul and I bought it by saving my salaries.'"

While nearly 1 month has passed since the 1-week deadline Özgür Özel gave to Akın Gürlek, the question of when Özel would disclose Gürlek's assets had become a matter of public curiosity.

According to a report by Birgün, the CHP will continue to be on the ground on the first anniversary of the March 19 operations. It has been learned that Özgür Özel, who is preparing to hold a press conference on March 17, will disclose Akın Gürlek's assets at this meeting.
