Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal, who is facing expulsion from the CHP, will officially join the AKP today at the AKP's Extended Provincial Chairs Meeting. It is expected that AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will pin the party badge on Köksal.

Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz suggested that along with Köksal, 7 CHP municipal council members and Dinar Mayor Veysel Topçu will also join the AKP.

Topçu, who was elected Mayor of Dinar by reaching 48.48 percent of the vote in the local elections on March 31, 2024, had hung the debts remaining from the AKP era on the municipal building as soon as he received his certificate of election.
