He had not visited İmamoğlu: Response from Kılıçdaroğlu's camp to those claims: 'An example of stupidity'

CHP's presidential candidate and İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been held in Silivri Prison since March 23.

The fact that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu did not visit İmamoğlu last week drew public attention. Following this development, it was claimed that Kılıçdaroğlu had said, "I will not visit him until he is cleared."

Journalist İsmail Saymaz asked sources close to Kılıçdaroğlu about the claim in question.

Reporting on the conversation in his column on Halk TV, Saymaz stated the following:

"I asked a politician close to Kılıçdaroğlu about the claim. He denied it categorically, saying:

'What is this, he will go after he is cleared? İmamoğlu wouldn't be in prison after being cleared anyway! It is a complete example of stupidity. There is no such thing. Our chairman visited Zeydan Karalar, and also Osman Kavala. He hadn't been to see Kavala for a long time. He had visited other friends. The person he visited the most is Ekrem Bey. He went three times.'

On the other hand, responding to the question of whether İmamoğlu's statement that "He wants to bury me in concrete" hurt Kılıçdaroğlu, the source stated that these words did not create any resentment in the former CHP leader, noting the following:

"No, sir. Especially if you are a politician, you never feel resentment. What kind of resentment would there be? The man is already inside. You have to understand his psychology. He might feel resentment, he might be sad, he might have other expectations. If you were on equal terms, you would sit down and discuss it. You are not on equal terms. He has a lot of problems. You have no right to add new problems on top of them."

In the assessments made by Kılıçdaroğlu's camp, the view that "It is a decision taken by the party, we all have to respect it" also stands out regarding the start of the CHP's ordinary convention process.
