The incident occurred on February 9 in the Kükürtlü neighborhood of Osmangazi district. After his parents separated, 60-year-old father of two Mustafa Demirel was living in the basement of the apartment building where he worked. When his eldest son, H.D., had not heard from his father for 3 days, he went to the house with his brother Hakan Demirel (33) and discovered his father's lifeless body.

It was determined that Demirel had been shot in the back with a rifle and killed. The homicide bureau teams, which launched an investigation, first examined security camera footage from the building and its surroundings. After collecting fingerprints from the scene and examining Mustafa Demirel's mobile phone records, the teams determined that his son Hakan had sent a message to his father saying, "Dad, there is no money in one of the credit cards. I will cash out the gold account in the other one, convert it to cash, and buy clothes. Just so you know."

HE WANTED TO ATTEND THE FUNERAL

The teams detained Hakan Demirel, who was also determined to have been using his father's car. In his first statement at the police station, Demirel, who drew attention with his cold-blooded demeanor, said, "I am innocent. Some of my relatives might have killed my father. You are questioning me for no reason. Allow me to attend my father's funeral to perform my final duty." However, Hakan Demirel later confessed to the crime, stating that he had killed his father with a rifle in the room where he was staying.

The trial of Demirel began at the Bursa 1st High Criminal Court. Demirel, who is being tried with a request for a life sentence, said, "It happened because my father insulted my girlfriend. He pointed the rifle at me, so I took the rifle from his hand and fired. I couldn't say I killed my father because my brother was with me."
