According to the information obtained, the incident occurred yesterday (22.04.2024) at around 16:00 in an apartment building on 467th Street in the Atilla Neighborhood.

A report was received that Yılmaz D. (43), who had a finalized prison sentence of 14 years and 6 months, had come to his home and taken his wife and 2 children hostage. Upon the report, numerous police, fire department, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the area.

While teams from the Konak District Police Department and the Public Security Branch, as well as Special Operations police, were deployed to the area, Yılmaz D. noticed the police arriving at the address and climbed into the apartment shaft.

The wife and 2 children, who were held hostage by Yılmaz D. and experienced great fear, were evacuated from the house in a controlled manner.

HE RESISTED FOR 3 HOURS

Despite the persuasion efforts of the police teams, Yılmaz D. did not surrender and continued to stay in the apartment shaft after a 3-hour standoff.

Teams, who pressed the button for the operation under the instructions of Provincial Police Chief Celal Sel, took advantage of a moment of distraction by Yılmaz D. and apprehended the suspect.

The moment the fugitive suspect was captured was recorded by a mobile phone camera.

Yılmaz D., who was referred to the courthouse for necessary legal proceedings, was sent to prison.
