He hid for 11 years, built a new life with a new identity and face

Following a premeditated murder at a nightclub in Bursa in 2011, A.K., who was working as a security guard, went into hiding after killing a person along with his boss. His boss was caught after some time and sent to prison. However, immediately after the incident, A.K. left Bursa by hitchhiking, fled to İzmir, and completely changed his life using his brother's identity.

Working a mundane job to avoid drawing attention in his new life, the suspect underwent 9 plastic surgeries to significantly alter his face in order to cover his tracks. With major changes made to his facial features, from his nose to his chin, A.K. managed to appear as a completely different person to those around him.

Teams from the Execution Bureau of the Bursa Provincial Police Department's Public Security Branch reopened the case years later and deepened their investigation. While every minor detail obtained was evaluated, hundreds of hours of camera footage were meticulously examined, and data from different cities were cross-referenced.

As a result of the investigations, it was determined that A.K. was working at a furniture workshop in İzmir. The suspect, who was followed for days, was found to be taking the same shuttle bus to work every morning. Waiting for the right moment for the operation, the teams apprehended A.K. on the shuttle bus. The moment of the operation was captured second by second on the workplace's security cameras.

11-YEAR ESCAPE ENDS IN PRISON

After being taken into custody, the suspect was brought to Bursa to have his statement taken. A.K., who was arrested by the court, was sent to prison to serve the aggravated life sentence that had been issued against him long ago. With the patient pursuit of the police teams and the use of technological capabilities, another cold case was solved years later.
