He warned before the cable car disaster: The steel cable is sparking. 10 minutes between life and death
Cezmi Türkyılmaz, a mechanical technician living in the Çorlu district who was stranded with his family during the cable car accident in Antalya, said, "The incident hadn't happened yet; I called and warned them, but unfortunately, the accident occurred 10 minutes later. It is a very sad event, but it could have been prevented."
Cezmi Türkyılmaz explained what happened minutes before the incident. Türkyılmaz said, "When I looked up, the pulleys on the pylon were locked and not turning.
I called and said, 'The pulleys on the pylon are not turning. Because of this, the steel cable is sparking; stop the cable car immediately.' I called and warned them, but unfortunately, the accident occurred 10 minutes later. It is a very sad event, but it could have been prevented," he said.
On April 12, a cable car pylon on the Sarısu-Tünektepe cable car line in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya collapsed and struck a moving cabin.
As a result of the cabin being torn apart, lawyer Memiş Gümüş lost his life, and 17 people were injured.
The 174 people who were stranded in the cable car cabins, which came to a complete stop after the accident, were evacuated after operations that lasted approximately 1 day.

RESCUED AFTER 7 HOURS
Cezmi Türkyılmaz, who lives in the Çorlu district, was among the 174 people stranded in the cabins while visiting his daughter, who is a university student in Antalya, and taking a ride on the cable car.
Türkyılmaz and his family were rescued from the cabin where they were stranded by helicopter approximately 7 hours later.
"THE PULLEYS ON THE PYLON ARE NOT TURNING"
Speaking about the incident, mechanical technician Cezmi Türkyılmaz said, "We boarded the cable car for a trip, and after completing the trip, we boarded it again for the return.
At that moment, sparks flew from the pylons onto our cabin. My daughter noticed this and told me. I am a mechanical technician who is knowledgeable about these matters. When I looked up, the pulleys on the pylon were locked and not turning.

I immediately called the contact number written in the cabin, reached the staff, and told them to stop the cable car so that an accident would not be caused. I called and said, 'The pulleys on the pylon are not turning.
Because of this, the steel cable is sparking; stop the cable car immediately.' They hung up the phone; 5 minutes passed, and there was no stopping.
5 minutes later, I called again and said, 'Do not take any passengers, stop the cable car immediately, there is sparking and smoke coming out.'

When the cable car started up again 3-4 minutes later, I looked back and saw that the surroundings were covered in a cloud of dust. Phone records can be checked; I was likely the first to call and warn them. If it had been stopped and left that way when I called, this incident would not have happened," he said.
