Heartbreaking incident in Izmir: Middle school student stabbed to death in beach fight

In the Karşıyaka district of Izmir, 15-year-old middle school student Erdem Demir, who was critically injured during a knife fight between youths, could not be saved despite all medical interventions at the hospital where he was taken and has passed away. Following the incident, two suspects apprehended by the police were arrested by the court and sent to prison.

Izmir woke up to the tragic news of a murder from the Karşıyaka coastline. 15-year-old Erdem Demir, an 8th-grade student at Karşıyaka Fevzipaşa Middle School, began arguing with two individuals for an as-yet-undetermined reason while walking along the shoreline.

ARGUMENT ON THE BEACH ENDS IN BLOODSHED

The argument, which escalated quickly, turned into a fight involving kicks and punches. During the altercation, the attackers critically wounded 15-year-old Erdem Demir with a knife they were carrying. Bystanders who saw the unfortunate child collapse in a pool of blood immediately notified health and police teams.

Erdem Demir, who was rushed to the hospital by an ambulance that arrived at the scene, passed away yesterday despite the intensive efforts of doctors.

The fact that Erdem lost his life in such a tragic incident during his final year while preparing for the LGS exam has left his schoolmates and teachers in mourning.

MURDER SUSPECTS REFERRED TO COURTHOUSE: TWO ARRESTS

Launching a wide-ranging investigation following the incident, teams from the Izmir Police Department identified the suspects who were involved in the fight and fled the scene as 18-year-old C.C. and 19-year-old D.K.

The two suspects, who were apprehended and taken into custody in a short time, were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station were completed. C.C. and D.K., who were arrested by the duty magistrate on charges of "intentional homicide," were sent to prison. The police investigation into the incident continues from multiple angles.
