Heavy downpours return across the country

According to the weather assessments for May 28 by the Meteorological Service, a partly to very cloudy sky is expected across Turkey. Showers and thunderstorms will be effective in the northern and eastern parts of Marmara, the inner regions of the Aegean, most of the Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, the Black Sea, the north and west of Eastern Anatolia, and some other provinces.

Heavy rainfall is expected from time to time, especially in Thrace, the Inner Aegean, the Lakes Region, the inner parts of the Western Black Sea, the Taurus Mountains area of the Eastern Mediterranean, and in Ankara, Kırıkkale, Çankırı, Niğde, and the east of Kayseri starting from the afternoon hours.

NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN AIR TEMPERATURES

Temperatures will generally continue to hover around seasonal norms. The wind will generally be felt from the north and northwest, and occasionally strongly in the interior. The wind may increase in intensity, especially during rainfall.

Marmara: A partly and occasionally very cloudy sky will prevail. Showers and thunderstorms are expected across the entire region after the afternoon hours, with the exception of Çanakkale. Rainfall may be locally heavy around Edirne, Kırklareli, and Tekirdağ.

Aegean: Cloudy weather is forecast for the entire region. There will be heavy downpours, especially in the afternoon, in Muğla, Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Uşak, and Kütahya. İzmir will experience lighter rainfall.

Mediterranean: Temperatures are at seasonal norms across the region. While showers are expected (except in central Antalya), there is a risk of heavy rainfall around Isparta, Burdur, and the Taurus Mountains.

Central Anatolia: Partly and eventually very cloudy weather will be seen. Short-term severe downpours may be effective in Ankara, Kırıkkale, Çankırı, Niğde, and the east of Kayseri.

Western Black Sea: Along with a dense cloud cover, heavy rainfall will stand out in Bolu, Düzce, Kastamonu, and Zonguldak starting from the afternoon hours.

Central and Eastern Black Sea: A cloudy sky and local thunderstorms will be experienced across the region during the afternoon hours.

Eastern Anatolia: Partly cloudy weather and intermittent showers stand out in the northern and western parts. In other provinces, short-term rainfall will show its effect after the morning hours.

Southeastern Anatolia: In Diyarbakır, Mardin, Siirt, and Şanlıurfa, partly and slightly cloudy, rainless weather is expected to prevail.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING FROM THE METEOROLOGICAL SERVICE

The Meteorological Service has urged citizens to be careful and cautious in regions where locally heavy downpours will occur, especially from the afternoon onwards. Warnings were reiterated against the risks of flash floods, water inundation, lightning, local hail, and short-term storms.

It is estimated that the weather will generally maintain its cloudy structure this week, and despite short sunny intervals, thunderstorms and showers will be effective in many provinces from the west to the east.
