HKP files complaint with International Criminal Court against Maduro's abduction

The People's Liberation Party (HKP) has taken action regarding the abduction of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, following the military operation conducted by the US in Venezuela. The HKP has filed a formal application with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague against US President Donald Trump, as well as several cabinet members and high-ranking military officials. In a statement regarding the process, HKP Deputy Secretary General and lawyer Sait Kıran said, "The legitimate President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, who were detained in an illegal act of piracy and are currently being held captive, must be released immediately."

Kıran stated that the complaint includes names such as US President Donald John Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, and Commander of US Southern Command General Laura Richardson. It was reported that the criminal complaint was sent to The Hague by mail from the PTT Courthouse Branch in Ankara.

In the petition prepared by HKP lawyers, it was noted that the sovereignty of Venezuelan territory has been violated and that the US administration's statements regarding taking over the administration of Venezuela are contrary to international law. The petition summarized the following views:

"Despite the sovereign right of the legal state of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela over its own territory, Trump's declaration in a press conference that 'the US will govern Venezuela until a safe, orderly, and sensible transition of power is ensured,' his threat that Venezuelan oil will be operated by US oil companies, and his threat that a second attack could be organized if necessary, constitute international banditry. Furthermore, Trump's threatening words toward Delcy Rodríguez, who is exercising the authority of the Interim President of Venezuela, saying 'If she doesn't do the right thing, she will likely pay a bigger price than Maduro,' create a danger of escalating the attack.

Whether or not they have ratified the Rome Statute, international war law is binding on all states under the United Nations Charter and the Geneva Conventions. The world is meeting a new Hitler step by step. If the International Criminal Court does not exercise its authority, the aggression of Trump and his accomplices, which recognizes no human rights, national sovereignty, law, ethics, treaties, or international principles, is building a new and major war in Latin America.

The ICC Prosecutor must immediately open a case for the described international crimes of attack/abduction and occupation. A decision must be taken immediately for the unconditional release of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, and necessary coercive measures must be applied. In any case, we have full faith that the sovereign/patriotic people of Venezuela will defeat the US war criminals. However, this will come at the cost of millions of lives. For these reasons, we call on the International Criminal Court prosecutor to take action."

In the petition, HKP officials invited the International Criminal Court to take swift action and requested that the necessary international measures be taken for the release of Maduro and Flores.

The HKP Deputy Secretary General stated that the US has disregarded international law and interfered with Venezuela's sovereignty. Kıran also argued that the US's justifications do not reflect the truth and that the move is essentially aimed at seizing Venezuela's natural resources.

Claiming that the Washington administration's goals are imperialist, Kıran expressed that as a Party, they stand with the Venezuelan people and will continue the struggle. On the legal front, he reported that they have requested the intervention of the ICC Prosecutor to ensure the prosecution of the US President, high-ranking ministers, and military officials.

Reminding that applications to the International Criminal Court can officially be made by states, Kıran noted that they are nevertheless trying to intervene in the process. "We hope they will not surrender to US imperialism this time and will do what is necessary. We hope they take the necessary initiatives for the immediate release of Venezuela's legitimate President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, who were detained in an illegal act of piracy and are currently being held captive," he said.

Kıran expressed the view that if the International Criminal Court fails to maintain its impartiality, the debates regarding its application of double standards against powerful states will further increase. "We hope we are wrong and that for once they remember they are jurists and do what is necessary. As the People's Liberation Party, we will follow this application to the end," he said.
