Holiday return accident in Rize: 2 dead, 3 injured
In the Çayeli district of Rize, two siblings lost their lives after their vehicle struck a median while returning from a holiday visit; three others were hospitalized with injuries.
The accident occurred on the Black Sea Coastal Road in the Büyüktaşhane neighborhood of Çayeli district. According to the information obtained, a family traveling from their home in Rize to Pamukçular village in the Yusufeli district of Artvin for the holiday set out to return to Rize after their holiday visits. The light commercial vehicle driven by H.A., traveling from Artvin toward Rize, lost control, struck the median, and overturned. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that 13-year-old Muhammet A. and his 20-year-old sister Ayşe A., who were in the back seat of the vehicle, had lost their lives at the scene.
The father H.A., mother M.A., and another sibling, S.A., who were injured in the accident, were taken to the hospital by ambulance after receiving initial medical intervention at the scene.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
