Holiday traffic congestion at the transit point for 43 provinces

Traffic congestion continued until late at night in Kırıkkale, the "key junction" that serves as a transit route for 43 provinces. Especially on the last day of the holiday, millions of citizens returning from their hometowns or vacation spots created kilometers-long vehicle queues on the Kırıkkale-Ankara D200 highway.

With hundreds of thousands of vehicles hitting the road at the same time, traffic in the city was effectively gridlocked. It was observed that vehicles were moving in a stop-and-go fashion at times. On the Kırıkkale-Kayseri D765 highway, however, traffic was seen to be flowing smoothly. The heavy vehicle traffic created by drivers was captured from the air.

To ensure traffic flow, teams from the Provincial Police Department and the Provincial Gendarmerie Command worked extensively on routes and at intersections where traffic was heavy. Working on a 24-hour basis, the teams directed traffic at intersections to ensure it proceeded in a controlled manner.

At inspection points, drivers were warned about both speed and seat belt use, and were urged to be careful through announcements to prevent potential accidents. Highway teams also temporarily closed some intersections to traffic to ease congestion.
