Horrific accident in Elazığ! 27 injured, mostly students: 1 in critical condition
A minibus carrying students returning from a tree-planting event in Elazığ suffered brake failure. The minibus struck two vehicles waiting at a red light before coming to a stop after hitting a tree in a park. 27 people, mostly students, were injured in the accident, one of them critically.
The incident occurred on Hastane Street in the Rızaiye neighborhood.
The minibus, belonging to the Yurtbaşı Town Municipality and carrying students from Çubukbey Anatolian High School who had attended a tree-planting event in the Harput neighborhood, suffered brake failure while in motion.
27 PEOPLE INJURED
The minibus, whose driver lost control, struck a light commercial vehicle and a car that were waiting at a red light at the time.

The minibus, which dragged the light commercial vehicle in front of it for a distance, was able to come to a stop after entering a nearby park and hitting a tree. A total of 27 people, mostly students, were injured in the accident, with the driver of the light commercial vehicle in critical condition. Upon notification, 112 emergency health, police, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured were taken to hospitals in the city by ambulances after receiving initial treatment on-site. The area resembled a battlefield following the accident.
Elazığ Provincial Police Chief Adnan Karayel, Elazığ Provincial Director of National Education Mehmet Yiğit, and Deputy Mayor Nafiz Bilginoğlu arrived at the scene to conduct investigations.
