Horror in Bolu: Woman runs over child who made her own child cry

In the Kitirler neighborhood of Gerede, Bolu, on August 11, one of two 12-year-old children allegedly shot a bead at the other with a bead gun. T.U., who went home crying, told her mother, G.M.U., about the situation. Angered by the incident, the mother, Ulusoy, ran over E.Y., who was riding a bicycle on the street, with her car.

While the injured child was discharged after receiving treatment at the hospital, the mother, who was taken into custody, was sentenced to house arrest. The moments when the mother attempted to run over the child with her car were also recorded by security cameras.

According to a report by DHA, G.M.U. claimed in her statement to the prosecutor's office that she did not intentionally run over the child, stating, "I drove toward them with my car to warn them. However, I do not understand how it happened when the children moved. I stopped immediately after hitting the child. I did not do it knowingly or willingly. It was completely an accident." 

The Gerede Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has filed a lawsuit against the mother, requesting up to 20 years in prison for the crime of "attempted intentional murder of a child unable to defend themselves."
