Hospitalized for the second time: Statement regarding Mahir Polat's health condition
Lawyer Erkam Erdem has issued a statement regarding the current condition of IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was transferred to the hospital for the second time yesterday evening after falling ill.
IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, who was arrested as part of an operation launched against the IMM and Ekrem İmamoğlu on allegations of 'terrorism' and 'corruption,' had been sent to Silivri Prison.
Polat, who fell ill 3 days ago and was transferred to the hospital, was sent back to his ward following examinations there.
Lawyer Erkam Erdem issued a statement regarding the current condition of Polat, who was transferred to the hospital once again at 21:00 yesterday evening due to chest pain and high blood pressure.
Speaking to Sözcü TV, Erdem stated the following:
“As of 21:00 last night, he was transferred from the prison to the hospital due to chest pain and high blood pressure.
He was taken to Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital. An emergency angiography was considered there. After reviewing previous examinations, the doctors decided to keep him under observation in the intensive care unit.
He remained in the intensive care unit in the cardiology department last night. He has not yet been discharged from there. He remains under the supervision of doctors.
For us, a report from the physicians stating that prison conditions are not suitable for this process is quite valuable.
If a report is issued by the hospital, we will re-apply to the prosecutor's office and request his release again.”
