How many people attended the CHP's İzmir rally? Özgür Özel said '2 million', but the figures from the police and the AKP are very different
CHP leader Özgür Özel stated that 2 million people attended his party's rally in İzmir, while the police claimed the attendance was 70 thousand.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel stated in his speech at the 'Defending the National Will' rally held in İzmir that the attendance was over 2 million.
Özel said, "I am saying this while looking into the eyes of over 2 million people from İzmir here: Mayor Ekrem is innocent."
However, according to information reported by İHA, police sources announced the number of people attending the rally as 70 thousand.
AKP İzmir Provincial Chairman Bilal Saygılı also supported this figure, stating, "They sent bus after bus from Balıkesir, Denizli, Manisa, Aydın, and Muğla. So what happened? The gathered crowd was limited to around 70 thousand."
