Hulusi Akar makes 'Syrians' claim in July 15 speech

A ceremony was held at the Kartal Martyrs' Cemetery in Kayseri as part of the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day events.

During the ceremony, following the recitation of the Quran and prayers, a salute was fired in honor of those who lost their lives during the coup attempt.

After the ceremony, Parliamentary National Defense Commission Chairman and former Chief of General Staff Hulusi Akar made statements to journalists.

"WE ONCE AGAIN SHOWED THE WHOLE WORLD THAT EVERY TURK IS BORN A SOLDIER"

"Today, as you all know, is the anniversary of the resistance we put up against the treacherous and vile coup attempt, under the leadership of our president, with our military, gendarmerie, police, and civilians who are loyal to their homeland, nation, and flag. We are commemorating this," said Akar, continuing as follows:

"Here, we showed the whole world once again on July 16 that every Turk is born a soldier. We saw here once again how important our army-nation unity is. We must be prepared here against these and similar attempts by traitors and villains. We will draw inspiration from the successes achieved by our nation, our soldiers, and our police; the young generations will draw inspiration. On the other hand, we will also take a lesson from the thought that these traitors and villains may still exist. We will continue our struggle against this."

"THEY ATTEMPTED TO INCITE AN UPRISING BY USING SYRIANS AS A PRETEXT"

In his speech, Akar recalled the incidents in the city last month where Syrians were targeted and stated, "Imperialist powers, their pawns, and intelligence apparatuses will never remain idle. Yesterday was July 15; one month ago, they attempted to incite an uprising by using Syrians as a pretext. With the wisdom, logic, and foresight of our noble nation, we have never allowed this, and we will not allow it. As our state, we will maintain our stability as 85 million people united as one fist. Hopefully, we will build a growing and strengthening Turkey."
