İbrahim Yumaklı announces! Frying oils used in fast food are being inspected

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı has announced the launch of a 10-day inspection campaign across 81 provinces targeting frying oils used in the fast-food sector. These inspections, which began today, aim to prevent risks that may arise in businesses producing fast food and providing mass consumption, and to ensure the protection of public health and consumer food safety.

Minister Yumaklı emphasized that ensuring citizens have access to and consume healthy food is an important duty, noting that they conduct sectoral food inspections on a routine basis. Stating that the inspections focusing on frying oils will include solid and liquid oils used in mass consumption venues, the Minister indicated that the inspections, to be carried out by 7,500 control officers in 81 provinces, will focus on factors such as polar compounds, acid value, and frying oil temperature.

Minister Yumaklı stated that necessary sanctions will be applied against unreliable food suppliers and that these inspections will not be limited to a specific period but will continue on an ongoing basis. Noting that they are taking the necessary measures for consumers to access reliable food, the Minister stated that the Alo 174 Food Hotline can be called when negative situations are encountered and that it is important for citizens to be sensitive in this regard. He also made reminders regarding the recycling of waste oils by businesses and citizens.
