Illegal betting operation in 35 provinces centered in Istanbul! Over 5,000 sites shut down

Under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a large-scale operation was carried out by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Cyber Crimes Investigation Branch against illegal betting networks.

Simultaneous raids were conducted in 35 provinces centered in Istanbul against suspects identified as carrying out illegal betting and virtual gambling activities during investigations conducted by cyber police teams using artificial intelligence-supported programs. 108 people were apprehended and detained in the operation.

During searches conducted at the suspects' addresses, a large amount of digital material deemed to have been used in the crime was seized.

Within the scope of the efforts, access blocking orders were issued for a total of 5,151 URLs, including 5,000 websites identified as containing illegal betting and virtual gambling content, 111 addresses that directed mobile users by advertising these sites, and 40 addresses determined to be mediating payment transactions.

The detained suspects were taken to the Istanbul Cyber Crimes Investigation Branch for processing. It was learned that the suspects' interrogation procedures at the police station are ongoing.
