Illegal betting operation in 7 provinces centered in Mardin: 10.3 billion in money traffic detected
As part of an investigation centered in Mardin, simultaneous operations were carried out in 7 provinces against 49 suspects identified as facilitating money transfers for illegal betting sites and committing fraud through fake advertisements. It was determined that the suspects generated a money traffic of 10.3 billion liras through more than 1.4 million transactions.
As part of an investigation coordinated by the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, legal proceedings have been initiated against 49 suspects identified as facilitating money transfers for illegal betting sites and defrauding citizens through fake advertisements. Simultaneous operations were carried out against the suspects in 7 provinces.
Minister of Interior Akın Gürlek announced on his social media account that the investigation was conducted in line with the efforts of the Mardin Provincial Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch.
Gürlek stated, "Under the coordination of our Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office; in line with the efforts of the Mardin Provincial Police Department's Cyber Crimes Branch, legal proceedings have been initiated against 49 suspects who facilitated money transfers for illegal betting sites and victimized our citizens through fake advertisements. It has been determined that the suspects reached a transaction volume of 10 billion 394 million 834 thousand 144 liras in exchange for 1 million 442 thousand 176 transactions. In line with the findings obtained, a simultaneous operation was carried out in 7 provinces this morning."
Within the scope of the investigation, it was determined that the suspects carried out a total of 1 million 442 thousand 176 transactions, and the money movement reached 10 billion 394 million 834 thousand 144 liras.
