Illegal parking operation in Ankara: 30 detained

An investigation was launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into individuals engaged in illegal parking operations. As part of the security measures prepared for the NATO Summit on July 7-8, the Ankara Police Department's Public Security Branch conducted an operation targeting these parking operators.

Law enforcement officers conducted surveillance on illegal parking attendants, unauthorized parking operators, and valets on certain streets and in front of venues in Ankara. Accelerating their operations, the Ankara police are prioritizing not only road safety but also road clearance. It was learned that illegal parking operators were generating illicit income by demanding money from people wishing to park their cars.

Law enforcement teams collected camera footage and took statements from complainants and witnesses. The operation targeted illegal valets and parking attendants, including employees of entertainment venues. Thirty parking operators found to be occupying areas designated as public roads were detained.

Police teams emphasized that they would not give any opportunity to illegal parking attendants and are determined to take every necessary step within the scope of their duties and authority. Furthermore, the Ankara Police Department warned citizens, stating that collecting fees under the guise of parking charges is illegal according to the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918.
