İmamoğlu addresses Erdoğan from Silivri

CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has made a new statement from Silivri Prison, where he is being held.

In his statement, addressing AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, İmamoğlu called for, "Let people be tried without arrest, and let the indictment be prepared as soon as possible."

İmamoğlu stated, "When the trampled national will is realized, our country will surely find peace and quickly escape the siege that has been created. The struggle will not be won by those who compete in discord, but by those who stand for rights, law, and justice. The nation is great."

İmamoğlu noted the following:

"Especially to our citizens who voted for the current government, the AK Party and MHP supporters;

The government declared this year the year of the family. The year 2024 was declared the year of the retiree, and for 2 years, our retirees have been living through the poorest and most miserable period in our history. Unfortunately, 2025 will also be remembered for practices where family law and sensitivities were completely trampled upon, alongside the great and deep poverty experienced by families. This year, the sense of peace, security, and justice of a large segment of society, especially our families, has been destroyed.

Operations conducted and designed by a handful of ambitious people who have become prisoners of their own seat-seeking and passions are causing great harm to the chastity, dignity, honor, spirituality, values, and faith of families, destroying our social integrity."

"MANY HONEST PEOPLE WERE KEPT IN FILTH IN DETENTION AND UNLAWFULLY ARRESTED"

"People were taken into custody at dawn, in the darkness of the night, from their families and children, through raids by hundreds of police and gendarmerie. Many honest people, who would have come to give statements if summoned, were kept in filth in detention for 5 days and unlawfully arrested after their statements were taken.

Even our women who raise their children alone were taken into custody at the crack of dawn, with their children frightened and watching."

"OUR FAMILY SENSITIVITIES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED"

"The days when these investigations, which supposedly had confidentiality orders, would take place were leaked in advance. Even worse, information that even lawyers could not access due to confidentiality orders was shown on both state and private channels by trolls and disreputable individuals, likely with the prosecutor's office as the sole source of information, using misleading images and statements. The law was completely trampled upon, dirty propaganda was made by violating the rights of others in a way that would affect the reputations, lives, and children of families, and our family sensitivities were destroyed.

The mindset that accepts the statements of convicts and secret witnesses with dirty pasts, rape crimes, and disreputable business dealings as credible has raided the homes of politicians who received the votes of millions, credible civil servants with histories full of success, and people who have served as bureaucrats and administrators in every period with hundreds of police officers. They even broke down the doors of their or their relatives' summer houses and highland homes; various safes and money were shown on pro-government and state channels through dirty images unrelated to the places they visited.

During the house raids, hostile and antagonistic practices were displayed, such as checking children's earrings and necklaces and seizing their piggy banks, committing levels of baseness that would harm the sanctity of family and children in a way never seen in history.

Through different methods and again directly through the judiciary, they tried to persuade our imprisoned friends to slander and cooperate by threatening their freedom, families, children, and assets.

They transported people—women, the sick, those in need of treatment—hundreds of kilometers away from the prisons where they were held, carrying out transfers in handcuffs with practices that posed life-threatening risks. Their families and lawyers could not hear from these people for days. Some of these transfers were carried out on the eve of the holiday, dragging the families and children who were going to visit them into great persecution and danger. This transfer persecution and torture not only restricted the families' ability to reach them but unfortunately also created a huge obstacle and impossibility for their right to defense. Even in military coups and counter-terrorism, people were lined up in a design that is rarely known and would be frowned upon, treated like criminals, and had their images taken by the police in a way that violated their dignity, with the state's own agency mercilessly serving these images. This attack on the honor and presumption of innocence of these families has gone down as a black mark in our democratic history.

Statements created with different threat methods and unprecedented persuasion techniques, in a copy-paste fashion, adding comments according to circumstances and targeting the individual, were formed with methods that even exceeded the periodic practices we do not want to name. While even lawyers could not access these documents containing lies, slander, and setups, they were disseminated through a dirty line extending from troll accounts whose origins are unknown to TRT, dealing deep damage and permanent blows to the family integrity and sensitivity of society."

"DIPLOMA CANCELLATION IS ALSO PART OF THIS OPERATION"

"Diploma cancellation is also a part of this operation and the prosecutor's office's practices. Diploma cancellation is the peak of seat-seeking and ambition, a black mark in our history. By giving our families the feeling that there is no guarantee for all their acquisitions, property, real estate, workplace, title deed, house, field, and of course their diploma, they have caused a period of insecurity and deep unrest for families in our country with an unlawful act that has gone down in world history.

Finally, they have destroyed the sense of trust in our sacred institutions, the judges and prosecutors of the Supreme Turkish Judiciary, our universities, our academics, our police, and our gendarmerie."

"I ADDRESS THE PRESIDENT WITH MY DEEP PASSION FOR THE SANCTITY OF THE FAMILY"

"Weren't families sacred? Wasn't the family untouchable? Weren't women, children, mothers, and the sanctity of the family supposed to be protected from harm? With all these practices, the sanctity of the family has been destroyed.

You cannot legitimize an environment that turns the passionate state of being an individual, a citizen, and a family into torture and anxiety by applauding extrajudicial executions and the destruction of the presumption of innocence through irregularities. What is this boundless hostility for? You cannot eliminate state protection for families, prisoners, and everyone involved in this, and put life and property security under great threat. You cannot tear female prisoners away from their children and families. You must urgently develop a solution to this issue."

"LET PEOPLE BE TRIED WITHOUT ARREST, LET THE INDICTMENT BE PREPARED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE"

"It should not be forgotten that this persecution, which they boast of carrying out, is a dagger struck at the future of our nation in the eyes of the families of this country's honorable politicians and bureaucrats. This honorable nation and this state, of which we are proud to be a part, owe the vast story it has written for centuries to its governance with justice, its bringing of hope against persecution to many geographies, its state-level wisdom, and its nation-level morality.

No one, including those who signed off on this cruelty, has the right or the power to attack the concept of family, our nation's morality, or our state's justice. We trust first in God, and then in the justice of our state and our nation. Our innocence has been accepted in the eyes of the nation, and it will be proven in the eyes of the state sooner or later. When the trampled national will is realized, our country will surely find peace and quickly escape the siege that has been created. The struggle will not be won by those who compete in discord, but by those who stand for rights, law, and justice. The nation is great."
