İmamoğlu cites Ahmet Türk example: 'Terrorist' yesterday, in state protocol today

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu criticized the appointment of trustees and the government's inconsistent policies in his statements regarding the current agenda. İmamoğlu specifically drew attention to the contradictions between past accusations and today's approach regarding Ahmet Türk.

HE EXPLAINED THE INCONSISTENCY

Reminding that Ahmet Türk is now included in the state protocol, İmamoğlu stated, "You look, and yesterday you were writing 'terrorist' in capital letters on the ministry's website. Well, if there is a link to terrorism, why are you hosting him in the protocol today? What kind of inconsistency is this?"

Criticizing the change in behavior following the accusations against Ahmet Türk, İmamoğlu said, "According to the state, Ahmet Türk was a terrorist a month ago. Now he is being hosted in the state protocol. This person was already respectable in our view, but what does this contradiction gain anyone?"

Evaluating the events following the appointment of a trustee to the Esenyurt Municipality, İmamoğlu said, "After the trustee appointment, four mayoral departments were closed. These appointments show that the trustee is not an impartial statesman, but clearly a partisan figure."

Stating that the trustee policy is a move against the will of the people, İmamoğlu condemned the government's stance. "These practices are a reflection of an approach far removed from democratic values," said İmamoğlu, emphasizing the need to return to the fundamental principles of democracy.
