İmamoğlu draws attention to the housing crisis this time! He explained what needs to be done, saying 'The solution is clear'

CHP presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently imprisoned at Silivri Prison, issued an important message regarding the housing crisis from the Presidential Candidate Office's X account.

Reminding that the rent increase rate for July was 43.23 percent, İmamoğlu emphasized the urgency of the need for social housing.

İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:

"Except for exceptional periods, Turkey has always been a country where the economy has had its ups and downs and our nation has not been able to reach the prosperity it deserves. We have always had problems. However, we have never experienced such a suffocating economic collapse in any period. Our nation has never experienced such a housing crisis in any period.

For God's sake, what are these rent hikes? Do you know what the rent increase rate for July is? 43.23 percent!

Buying a house has long since become a dream, and our nation cannot keep up with the rent either. People who spend all their income on rent are forced to live with the psychology and ordeal of 'at least I found a place to put my head'.

The solution is clear!

Social housing has become our nation's deepest need. When we come to power with the will of the nation, we will increase the social housing stock from 1% to 20% in cooperation with local governments.

Our nation will be able to become homeowners thanks to social housing loans, and those who wish will be able to solve their housing problems by renting social housing.

Our goal is clear; we will determine the housing need on a provincial basis all over our country and increase the supply of social housing according to the needs of the citizens.

Families, retirees, workers, and students will finally be rid of the worry of 'where will we put our heads', and our nation will claim its right to housing!"
