İmamoğlu's metro statement: 'They will apologize'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor and CHP candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu spoke at the opening of the Ataköy-İkitelli metro line. 

Stating that they have built 65 kilometers of metro lines during his 5 years in office, İmamoğlu said that although the tender for this project was held in 2015, it was halted after approximately 35 percent of it had been completed.

Emphasizing that 10 metro lines were halted when they took office in 2019 due to financing problems and that this was a 'scandal,' İmamoğlu stated that they did not halt metro lines even under the most difficult conditions.

"ISTANBUL WILL BURY THIS IN HISTORY ON MARCH 31"

Stating that they have built more than half of the metro construction completed in 25 years within just 5 years, İmamoğlu used the following expressions:

"They took the money for the 2 metro lines built by the Ministry of Transport from us. They took nearly 6 billion from us in 10 months. Those who spread the 8-kilometer lie will know their place and apologize. Forget about me; tens of thousands of people sweated underground. They will apologize to them. They won't apologize, they don't have the face for it. When their lies are exposed, they say these were just political remarks.

They did the same thing when they stole the election and called everyone thieves and terrorists. Istanbul will bury this political mentality in history on March 31. Istanbul cannot be left to this political mentality. We did work worth 25 years in 5 years. We add something to every metro. We are finishing a nursery above the station and opening a city restaurant at the station. We will do work worth 50 years in 10 years."
