İmamoğlu on electricity price hike: The entire nation is paying the price for the ambition for power and office

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was arrested as part of the lawsuits filed against him and sent to Marmara Prison in Silivri, continues to share his views on current events from there. 

This time, İmamoğlu delivered a message regarding the hike in electricity prices. Here is that post:

"Those who slander us from morning to night without any shame or embarrassment fall silent when it comes to the 25% hike in electricity.

Do you know why they are silent? Because they know very well themselves that they are dragging the country into a great catastrophe.

Unfortunately, the entire nation is paying the price for the ambition for office and the hunger for power of a handful of people. 

If the law has become the most untrustworthy institution in this country, the sole reason for this is the mindset that politicized the judiciary. No one trusts the judiciary. 

There is an earthquake, no one is held accountable; there is a fire, no one is held accountable; there is a flood, no one is held accountable; those who launder dirty money put on a show in front of the nation, gangs are formed over the lives of newborn babies, drug dealers run rampant, and still, no one is held accountable.

Those who act like lions against the opposition, students, and the youth cower and look for a place to hide when it comes to these issues. 

It is this injustice that has brought the economy to this state and made citizens lose confidence in the future.

Let us not forget that in countries like ours, the amount of law and democracy equals the amount of bread and jobs.

You will go, and this country will find its way to prosperity."
