İmamoğlu reacts sharply to arrests in 4th wave operation against IMM: 'Do you have no fear of God, no shame before people?'

In the 4th wave of the investigation launched on March 19 into alleged corruption at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), 25 out of 46 people detained, including KİPTAŞ Board Chairman Ali Kurt, were arrested by the court to which they were referred.

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is currently detained at Silivri Prison, reacted to the arrest decisions made against his colleagues.

The following statement was issued through the "Presidential Candidacy Office" account, which was opened to share messages from İmamoğlu:

"Do you have no fear of God, no shame before people?

On one hand, I grieve for the injustice and lawlessness my colleagues are subjected to, and on the other, I grieve for the situation the country has been dragged into.

I complain about this lawlessness, which has no justification other than political ambition, a love for power, and greed for worldly gains, first to Almighty God and then to my dear nation.

When all the files they have been trampling on for months turned out to be empty, they fell into the concern of 'can we create new files?' by mercilessly locking people in dungeons and creating slanderers.

Can there be a justice system that tries to build cases through oppression, intimidation, threats, and blackmail?"
