İmamoğlu responds to Erdoğan's 'shake them up' instruction for municipalities

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu attended a groundbreaking ceremony at the Sancaktepe Municipality.

Speaking at the event, İmamoğlu reacted to the instruction given by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to "shake up the municipalities."

"WHAT KIND OF MINDSET IS THIS?"

"May God grant them wisdom. Come on then, shake them up if you can!

In Istanbul, we are serving the children and grandchildren of those who say 'shake them up.' What kind of mindset is this?" asked İmamoğlu, continuing as follows:

"You remember, before the election, they campaigned with 17 ministers. 17 of them against one, Ekrem İmamoğlu alone. What happened? The will of the nation prevailed."

WHAT HAPPENED?

In his speech following the Cabinet Meeting, Erdoğan gave an instruction to Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan regarding the social security (SGK) debts of municipalities and used the phrase, "It would be beneficial for you to shake them up more decisively."

Erdoğan had stated, "I invite the opposition, which announces minimum wages through an auction-style method, to pay their accumulated debts to the SGK if they are going to do something for the benefit of the country and the nation. Mr. Minister, it would be beneficial for you to shake them up much more decisively."
