İmamoğlu shares the rift in the People's Alliance! 'Diametrically opposed...'

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli had proposed a 'Turkey-Russia-China (TRC) alliance' in a statement he made recently.

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who went to the US for the UN General Assembly, responded to Bahçeli's TRC alliance proposal by saying, "To be honest, I couldn't follow that fully, I hope for the best."

CHP's presidential candidate and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been imprisoned in Silivri Prison since March 23, drew attention to the contradiction between the AKP and MHP in foreign policy.

İmamoğlu's message, released through his lawyers, was shared by the X account named Presidential Candidate Office.

The full text of İmamoğlu's statement is as follows:

“The government, which repeats the rhetoric of a 'strong state, world leader' at every opportunity, is today in a state of weakness and contradiction in foreign policy.

On one side, there is a government that promises to buy billions of dollars worth of aircraft just to be able to meet with the American President. On the other side, there is a government partner saying, 'We have lost hope in the US, we will turn our faces to Russia and China.' In other words, two diametrically opposed foreign policy understandings within the same coalition.

Moreover, while children are dying every day in Gaza, future plans are being made at bargaining tables where you have tied your political future.

This picture does not suit my beautiful country.

What suits this nation is not interest-based bargaining, but a foreign policy that inspires confidence with its independence and commands respect with its principles. It is an independent administration that can defend national interest and human dignity at the same time.

And this nation is very close to that administration.”
