İmamoğlu issues warning to Istanbul residents, specifying a time
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced in a social media post that the rain and storm are expected to continue until tomorrow evening.
Heavy rain and storms have taken hold of Istanbul.
Following consecutive warnings issued yesterday by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), AKOM, and AFAD, Turkish Airlines (THY) announced yesterday that it had canceled 40 domestic and international flights, while BUDO announced this morning that it would be unable to operate its Bursa-Istanbul services.
TO BE EFFECTIVE FOR 48 HOURS
In Istanbul, which was placed under an "orange" alert along with 28 other cities across the country, it was warned that the storm's speed would reach 75-80 km/h today and 100-110 km/h tomorrow.
It was reported that the intensity of the rainfall would increase starting from the afternoon hours.
İMAMOĞLU POINTS TO TOMORROW EVENING
While authorities continue to issue warnings, another warning came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
In a post on his X account, İmamoğlu stated that IMM teams are in the field, saying, “Our IMM teams, who are on high alert due to the storm and heavy rainfall, are responding to negative incidents with 5,045 personnel and 2,104 vehicles and construction equipment. The rain and storm are expected to continue until tomorrow evening. All our teams are in the field.”
