Imamoğlu's message to the party congress: 'Whatever they do, we will succeed'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and CHP Presidential Candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu sent a message to his party's congress held in Ankara. Stating that "the difficulties they will put in our way and the hardships they will make us endure on this honorable path we will walk together until the end are merely details," İmamoğlu added, "With these feelings, I wish success to our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and all my fellow delegates at the congress." 

The message from İmamoğlu is as follows: 

"Our party's 21st Extraordinary Congress is convening during an extraordinary period in every respect.

Our nation is under a heavy siege today. This is a siege by an oppressive government that openly declares it is not committed to law and democracy and sees itself as the owner of the state. This government does not want rival candidates, does not want rival parties, and does not want free and fair elections to be held.

They have only one concern: to keep the one-man system, which is dragging the country into disaster in every field from the economy to health and from education to justice, alive. However, no oppressive system can survive against the will of the nation. The dignity of the nation and its determination to protect its own will and future are above all kinds of tyranny.

Since the very first day, the congresses of the Republican People's Party have been places where this dignity has been symbolized and this struggle has been shaped.

I have no doubt that our congress will follow the same path today. Our party will prioritize the necessity of completing its national duty above all opinions, will walk with devotion and determination in line with the fundamental principles of our Republic, and will certainly succeed.

The difficulties they will put in our way and the hardships they will make us endure on this honorable path we will walk together until the end are merely details.

With these feelings, I wish success to our Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and all my fellow delegates at the congress.

Whatever they do, we will succeed!

We will defeat injustice and tyranny. We will build the government of freedom, equality, and brotherhood all together.

I thank you for your determined stance and struggle, and I wish our congress, which I believe will give hope and courage to our nation, to be auspicious and successful."
