Important post from Naci Görür following the İzmir and Van earthquakes
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür shared an assessment regarding the Van and İzmir earthquakes on his social media account X.
According to data from AFAD, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea at 20:09, at a depth of 7.77 kilometers. Earlier in the morning, a 3.9-magnitude earthquake had also occurred in Tuşba, Van.
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür evaluated the two earthquakes.
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made an assessment regarding the earthquake on his social media account X. In his message, Görür stated, "There was a 4.4 earthquake in the Aegean. It is a relatively deep earthquake.
As can be seen from the sea bathymetry, it is on a NE-SW trending fault. The floor of the Aegean Sea is full of numerous extensional faults," he said.

STATEMENT ON THE VAN EARTHQUAKE
Regarding the Van earthquake, Görür said the following:
13 hours ago, there was a 4.0 earthquake in Çolpan, Van. The earthquake was a shallow one between the Erciş and Karayazı fault zones.
This region had sustained certain damage during the 2011 Van Earthquake. Get well soon, with love.
