Indictment prepared for police officer murder at TÜVTÜRK
An indictment has been prepared against 4 suspects, seeking up to 14 years in prison each for the charge of "causing death through intentional injury" following the death of police officer Melih Okan Keskin, who lost his life after a fight at the Ankara İvedik vehicle inspection station.
The indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has been sent to the Ankara 12th High Criminal Court. The indictment states that in the incident that occurred on February 2, 2026, at the İvedik Vehicle Inspection Station in Yenimahalle, Melih Okan Keskin was severely injured as a result of being beaten and passed away on February 5 at the hospital where he was taken.
It was reported that during the fight, which broke out after an argument escalated during a vehicle inspection on the day of the incident, suspects Rahman Görfidan and Yiğitcan Karlar pushed Keskin and forced him out of the station, Murat Yıldırım punched him, and Saruhan Atasoy caused Keskin to lose his balance with the final punch he threw.
Including the Forensic Medicine Institute report in the indictment, it was stated that Keskin's death occurred as a result of intracranial hemorrhage due to blunt head trauma, that there was a causal link between the assault and the death, and that no other cause for the death was identified.
The report further stated that, according to camera footage, it was assessed that there was a direct causal link between the punch thrown by Saruhan Atasoy at 17:49 and the death. It was noted that the other suspects also acted in unity of intent and action during the incident, participating in the act by breaking the victim's resistance.
