Individual who posted insults against Erdoğan captured in Syria

The Ministry of Interior announced that 49-year-old T.G., who made posts containing insults against AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has been captured in Syria. It was stated that an arrest warrant had been issued for the individual, who resides in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, and that 97 social media accounts found to be making insulting posts have been blocked by court order.

Individual who posted insults against Erdoğan captured in Syria

The Ministry of Interior announced that an individual who made posts containing insults against AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on social media has been captured in Syria.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of investigations conducted by the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes, it was determined that the person who made the posts in question was 49-year-old T.G.

The statement noted that it was determined that T.G., who resided in Küçükçekmece, Istanbul, had traveled to Syria, and included the following remarks:

"An arrest warrant was issued for the individual by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, and he was captured in Syria with the support of the General Directorate of Security's Intelligence Department, the Security Department, and the Hatay Intelligence Branch directorates. A judicial process has been initiated by our Department of Cyber Crimes regarding 97 accounts that shared the content in question, and all of these accounts have been blocked by court order."
