Individuals committing fraud using student accounts apprehended

In the Nazilli district of Aydın, three individuals who obtained money through illegal means were apprehended by teams from the Aydın Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Cybercrime Combat Branch.

THROUGH STUDENTS

An operation was carried out on the residences of the three suspects, who were determined to be committing fraud through university students. The three suspects were taken into custody during the operation.

Searches conducted at the addresses resulted in the seizure of 240 thousand liras, 11 thousand 200 dollars, 27 bank cards belonging to various individuals, 8 mobile phones, and digital materials. Following the completion of procedures at the gendarmerie, the suspects were referred to the courthouse; S.Z. and E.Ç. were arrested, while B.K. was released under judicial control conditions.

DETERMINED TO HAVE CONVERTED TO CRYPTO

It was learned that the suspects had students open bank accounts in exchange for a certain fee and transferred income obtained through illegal means such as online gambling and betting into these accounts. It was determined that the suspects then converted the money they withdrew from these accounts into cryptocurrency.
