Inheritance dispute ends in bloodshed in Ankara: Tribal leader shoots his son

In an incident that occurred yesterday evening in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara, İskender Ertuş, leader of the Ertoşi, one of the influential tribes of Eastern Anatolia, went to the home of his son, Hadi Ertuş, from his second marriage.

The inheritance dispute between the father and son quickly escalated, and İskender Ertuş opened fire on his son with a gun. Upon reports from neighbors, police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

While Hadi Ertuş was taken to the hospital after initial intervention, İskender Ertuş was taken into custody. It was reported that Hadi Ertuş was wounded in his legs and is currently undergoing treatment.

İskender Ertuş was born in 1955 in the Başkale district of Van. Elected leader of the Ertoşi tribe following his father's death, Ertuş holds significant influence in eastern Turkey. The Ertoşi tribe is known as one of the first tribes to accept the village guard system.

In his political career, İskender Ertuş has changed five different parties in 23 years, most recently joining the AKP. In the past, party badges were pinned on Ertuş by Selahattin Demirtaş, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and former CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
