Intense visitor interest in Atatürk Mansion

The Atatürk Mansion, where the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk stayed 3 times in Trabzon, hosted 314 thousand 850 domestic and foreign visitors in one year.

The historic mansion, which is owned by the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality and has the status of a private museum, reopened its doors to visitors on October 29, 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic, following a one-year restoration that began on September 22, 2022.

The mansion, which is open 7 days a week between 09.00 and 19.00 in the summer months and between 09.00 and 17.00 in the winter period, features a guest room, dining room, kitchen, pantry, testament room, and veranda on the first floor.

The mansion, which houses a waiting room, meeting hall, study, bedroom, lounge, bathroom, and toilet on the second floor, and a library and staff room on the third floor, is under the auspices of the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality.

In the section of the mansion named "Testament Room", there is a sign featuring Atatürk's words regarding his donation of his assets: "Goods and property are a burden to me. I feel relieved by giving them to my nation. A person's wealth lies in their own spiritual personality. I want to give even more to my great nation."

Trabzon Metropolitan Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç stated that the mansion hosted 314 thousand 850 domestic and foreign visitors between October 29, 2023, and October 27, 2024.

Reminding that Atatürk visited Trabzon three times, Genç said, "His first visit was on September 15, 1924. In 1930 and 1937, he was a guest of our fellow citizens, our grandfathers, and our elders from Trabzon at the Atatürk Mansion, where he also wrote his testament. For this reason, the Atatürk Mansion is one of the most important visitor sites in our city."

Pointing out that the number of domestic and foreign visitors has increased after the restoration, Genç stated, "In 2020, 79 thousand 650 people visited the Atatürk Mansion, and 185 thousand 610 people in 2021. The mansion, which opened to visitors on October 29, 2023, after the restoration, hosted 314 thousand 850 visitors. There is a significant increase, and this makes us very happy."
