Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the appointment of trustees. Minister Yerlikaya stated, "If a mayor is convicted or arrested for a terror-related crime, that mayor is temporarily removed from office. The laws of the Republic of Turkey mandate this."
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the appointment of trustees. Minister Yerlikaya, who attended the Peace of Turkey Meeting held in Mardin and subsequently made remarks on the current agenda, defended the appointment of trustees.
"No one can bring Turkey to its knees with terror," said Minister Yerlikaya, who continued with the following remarks:
"No one can make this noble nation pay a price for treacherous ambitions. Neither in our Mardin, nor in any region of Turkey, nor beyond our borders, do we allow, nor will we allow, any terrorist organization that attacks the unity, solidarity, and brotherhood of our nation, or the integrity of our state, to find shelter.
As we promised our noble nation, we will bring the dens of those traitors down upon their heads. No one, no institution, especially municipalities elected by the votes of the people whose duties are defined by our laws, can disrupt this struggle. We will not allow this. If a mayor is convicted or arrested for a terror-related crime, that mayor is temporarily removed from office. The laws of the Republic of Turkey mandate this. Our understanding of internal security is clear, and our stance is firm. Combating all kinds of crime and criminals is our primary duty."
