Earthquake statement from Interior Minister Yerlikaya

Minister Yerlikaya made the following statement on his social media account regarding the earthquake that occurred in Çınarcık, Yalova, and was also felt intensely in Istanbul:

"Following the 4.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred off the coast of Çınarcık, Yalova in the Sea of Marmara, which was felt in surrounding provinces, especially Istanbul, all teams from AFAD and our relevant institutions have begun field scanning operations.

We are closely monitoring the developments.

I extend my best wishes to our citizens affected by the earthquake.

May God protect our country and our nation from disasters."

YALOVA GOVERNOR ALSO ISSUED A STATEMENT

Yalova Governor Dr. Hülya Kaya also announced the latest situation in Yalova, where the earthquake took place. In a post on her social media account, Kaya included the following statements:

"As of now, no reports have been received by our 112 Emergency Call Center, and our scanning efforts are continuing."
