Statement from Interior Minister Yerlikaya: Our fake signature operation, which began a year ago, did not receive much attention

While millions of citizens are following the developments in the fake diploma and e-signature scandal, AKP spokesperson Ömer Çelik made a notable statement, noting that the activity regarding fake diploma and driver's license transactions was detected a year ago and that the investigations were being carried out under the coordination of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

While it was thought that Interior Minister Yerlikaya had not made a statement regarding such an operation that has been ongoing for a year, Yerlikaya shared striking details on the subject.

Yerlikaya made statements regarding the fake diploma investigation. Minister Yerlikaya also clarified the allegations that a drug dealer had become a chief inspector within the scope of the investigation.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the fake diploma investigation to journalist Hadi Özışık, who was a guest on the program "Doğru Yorum" (Correct Interpretation) with Başak Şengül, broadcast on tv100.

Özışık conveyed the statement he received from Minister Yerlikaya with the following expressions: "He stated that these operations were carried out a year ago, in January 2024. Perceptions have been created about it for days.

Journalists will of course pursue this incident. While we do our job, they are also doing theirs and informing the public. If fake news is included in some of the journalism being done, then that is sad. For example, like a drug dealer becoming a chief inspector. Minister Yerlikaya states that there is no such thing.

When I asked the Minister why the operation from a year ago was not shared with the press, he used the expressions, 'We shared it on social media. We explained this at that time, but it was not focused on much. A second wave was carried out in May, and the gang was dismantled.'
