Investigation launched into CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik: Here is the reason

An investigation has been launched against many people, including Özgür Çelik, for "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations" in connection with the day Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was summoned to testify at the Çağlayan Courthouse on January 31.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik confirmed the investigation in comments to Halk TV.

Çelik stated that he was called by the Istanbul Police Department and summoned to provide a statement.

"OUR COLLEAGUES HAVE COMPLETED THEIR TESTIMONY PROCESSES"

CHP's Çelik said, "Police officials from the Vatan Police Headquarters called and informed me that an investigation had been opened against about 20 of us, including myself, and summoned me to go there and provide a statement.

About 20 of our colleagues, including my own older brother, our Istanbul Youth Branch President, and our colleagues from various levels of our party, have all completed their testimony processes," he stated.

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik was summoned to testify as part of an investigation opened against him for "violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations" while Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was testifying at the Çağlayan Courthouse on January 31. Çelik, who did not go to provide a statement, did not go to testify even though he was summoned again last Friday. It was learned that police officers filed a report today stating that Çelik, who has not gone to the police to testify since January 31, "did not come to testify" and sent it to the prosecutor's office.
