Investigation launched into restaurant in Istanbul over profanity-laden raki glasses

An investigation has been launched into a business in the Kuzguncuk neighborhood of Istanbul's Üsküdar district following allegations that raki glasses featuring profane expressions were served to customers at the Mülkiyeliler Birliği social facility.

Making a statement on the matter, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül said, "Following social media posts regarding the use of products containing expressions that demean women at a restaurant in Kuzguncuk, an inspection and investigation have been initiated regarding the workplace." It was reported that these inspections are being conducted in a multi-faceted manner with the participation of the Üsküdar District Governorship, the Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the Provincial Health Directorate, the Social Security Institution, the Police Department, and other authorized institutions.

"NEVER ACCEPTABLE"

"It is never acceptable for such expressions to be presented as if they were appetizers or to be turned into tabloid material," said Gül, emphasizing that combating such rhetoric is not only a legal but also a social responsibility.

MÜLKİYELİLER: CUSTOMERS BROUGHT THEM

The Mülkiyeliler Birliği Istanbul Branch made the following statement on X, tagging the Ministry of Interior:

"The glasses seen in the image in question do not belong to the Mülkiyeliler Birliği Istanbul Branch social facilities; they were brought by the customers who made the post, used, and the relevant photos were shared on their personal social media accounts.

Therefore, this incident occurred outside the knowledge and approval of our Association's management and the contractor operating our social facility.

We will be making the necessary applications against such misleading content."
