Investigation launched against DEM Party's Tuncer Bakırhan over 'Sheikh Said' and 'Seyit Rıza' remarks

It has been announced that legal action has been initiated against DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan due to the 'Sheikh Said' and 'Seyit Rıza' references he made during his speech on November 4.

Regarding the appointment of deputy mayors to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti Municipalities;

The statement from the Ministry read: "Regarding the appointment of deputy mayors to the Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti Municipalities; legal action has been initiated against DEM Party Siirt MP Tuncer BAKIRHAN due to his speech on 04.11.2024, and against DEM Party Mardin Provincial Chair Mehmet Mihdi TUNÇ due to his statement on 04.11.2024."

His speech on November 4 was cited as the reason for the investigation opened against Bakırhan.

WHAT DID BAKIRHAN SAY?

In the speech for which the investigation was opened, DEM Party Co-Chair Bakırhan stated the following:

"On one hand, they created an expectation of a solution, they talked about a 'new process, normalization,' but exactly 8 years ago, on November 4, they repeated the political genocide they had carried out. They are liars, hypocrites, and two-faced. When they say solution, we face oppression; when they say normalization, we face trustees. These liars think that the Kurds will bow down to these trustees and plunderers. Let them know very well that whatever Seyit Rıza did, whatever Sheikh Said did, whatever Mazlum, Deniz, and Sakine did, the Kurdish people will do the same. Neither their policies of oppression, nor their trustees, nor their lies, nor their tricks will bring us to our knees."

Stating that "Your trustee policy and denial policy lost in the election," Bakırhan added, "Now you will try to usurp the places you lost in the election with tricks, lies, deceit, and false judicial decisions. We promise, we will never let the plunderers, those who carry out political coups, this trustee mentality, and those who ignore your will pass. In every field of life, together with the laborers, the poor, and the oppressed, we will send this trustee mentality away together. I greet you all with respect. As long as you are with us, as long as you stand by your will as you do today, neither plunder, nor lies, nor trustees, nor oppression will ever find a response in the lands of Kurdistan."
