An investigation has been launched into 26 people following allegations of sexual abuse against a 9-year-old child with intellectual disabilities at the Çam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul.

Following the scandal, a statement was issued by the Ministry of Health.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Allegations that the young child, who was hospitalized on March 19 with a diagnosis of pneumonia and placed on a ventilator on March 30 after their health condition deteriorated, had been abused during the treatment process caused a stir. The first person to notice the suspicious situation was a doctor who performed an examination on April 7.

According to information reported by Hazar Dost from Sözcü newspaper, the prosecutor's office, which is deepening the investigation, has placed hospital security cameras under scrutiny. Both judicial and administrative investigations have been launched into a total of 26 people, including cleaning staff, healthcare personnel, and doctors, who are thought to be potentially linked to the incident. It was stated that the young child was unaware of what had occurred.

The hospital administration stated that they had conveyed all details of the incident to the Ministry of Health, announcing that definitive findings would only be clarified following the results of the forensic medicine report.
