Investigation launched into Ekrem İmamoğlu over 'insulting a public official' allegations... First reaction comes from Burhanettin Bulut
CHP's media spokesperson Burhanettin Bulut made the first statements: 'It is dragging the country into an overt regime of oppression...'
Reacting to the investigation launched against Ekrem İmamoğlu over allegations of 'insulting a public official,' CHP's Burhanettin Bulut said, 'This mentality, which considers criticism a crime, criminalizes even the most ordinary expressions and is dragging the country into an overt regime of oppression. The effort of this mindset, which tries to win in courthouse corridors what it could not win at the ballot box, to unlawfully send its opponent to prison and push them out of politics, neither fits the law nor aligns with democracy.'
The launch of an investigation into Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu over allegations of "insulting a public official" due to remarks he made during a hearing has been met with reaction from the CHP front. CHP Deputy Chairman responsible for Media and Public Relations and Adana MP Burhanettin Bulut evaluated the investigation in a statement on his social media account.

In the post he shared on his social media account, Bulut stated the following:
'IT NEITHER FITS THE LAW NOR ALIGNS WITH DEMOCRACY'
'Another investigation has been launched against our presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu over allegations of "insulting a public official," using the words he uttered at a hearing as a pretext. This mentality, which considers criticism a crime, criminalizes even the most ordinary expressions and is dragging the country into an overt regime of oppression. Turning the judiciary into a tool for political settling of scores transforms the law from a producer of justice into a mechanism of intimidation. The effort of this mindset, which tries to win in courthouse corridors what it could not win at the ballot box, to unlawfully send its opponent to prison and push them out of politics, neither fits the law nor aligns with democracy.'
