Investigations into lieutenants concluded: High Disciplinary Board to convene

In the disciplinary investigation launched following the official graduation ceremony of the Military Academy on August 30, 2024, the written defenses of the lieutenants, who were referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a recommendation for "separation from the Turkish Armed Forces," have been completed and submitted to the Land Forces Command.

HIGH DISCIPLINARY BOARD TO CONVENE

The High Disciplinary Board (YDK), where the file regarding the lieutenants will be discussed, will convene on Thursday, January 16, 2025. According to information obtained by the ANKA News Agency, the lieutenants' lawyers have completed their work on the written defenses.

The lawyers finalized the signatures and submitted the written defenses along with their attachments to the Land Forces Command. The lieutenants and their lawyers will present their oral defenses on Thursday, January 16, at 14:00, the day the YDK is scheduled to meet.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Following the official graduation ceremony of the Military Academy on August 30, 2024, after the lieutenants crossed their swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal," a disciplinary investigation was launched, and 5 lieutenants were referred to the High Disciplinary Board with a request for the penalty of "separation from the Turkish Armed Forces."

Ministry of National Defense sources had announced that proceedings had been initiated to refer the lieutenants who organized the action, as well as other personnel who had intent, fault, negligence, or responsibility, to the YDK within the scope of the TSK Disciplinary Law No. 6413.
