Invitation from Erdoğan to Putin after critical summit

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan continues his contacts in China, where he is attending the 25th Council of Heads of State Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In this context, Erdoğan held an important meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the city of Tianjin.

REGIONAL ISSUES ON THE AGENDA

Various regional issues, primarily in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus, were discussed during the meeting. Speaking in the part open to the press, Vladimir Putin stated, "We are also focusing on areas of common interest such as the Middle East, North Africa, and the Transcaucasus. Russian-Turkish cooperation in all these areas is deep-rooted, concrete, beneficial, and, I can say, reliable."

THANKS TO TURKEY FROM PUTIN

Russian President Putin also drew attention to Turkish initiatives in the process of resolving the Ukraine crisis. He said, "We are grateful to our Turkish friends for their significant contributions to political and diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis." Furthermore, Putin added, "Since May of this year, three rounds of direct Russia-Ukraine talks have been held in Istanbul, and these talks have made it possible to make progress in resolving the problem in the humanitarian sphere. I am confident that Turkey's special role in these matters will continue to be in demand."

INVITATION FROM ERDOĞAN TO PUTIN

President Erdoğan, for his part, gave sincere messages during the meeting. He said, "You know our desire to invite you to Turkey. My invitation stands. We are waiting for you in our country as soon as possible. There is a sincere relationship based on trust between us. Our relations are progressing without being affected by cyclical challenges."

Erdoğan also touched upon work in the financial field, stating, "Our technical discussions to develop alternative solutions that will not harm the integration of our financial institutions with international markets are proceeding positively. We have received successful results from the testing phase of the mechanism for meeting Akkuyu's financial needs through BOTAŞ's gas payments."
